The Camp Dixie Mission: Camp Dixie is a place where campers, group leaders, and staff members are able to grow spiritually, physically, emotionally and intellectually, in a positive way by experiencing, reflecting and evaluating in an outdoor-based Christ centered program.
Camp Dixie is owned & supported by the Camp Dixie Lutheran Foundation.
Camp Dixie is actually two layers. The camp is owned and supported by a foundation run by a board of directors composed of members of each "member" church. Camp Dixe Lutheran Foundation is a not-for-profit organization established to support the religious, educational, charitable, athletic and social outcomes established by Camp Dixie.
Camp Dixie is located on Perdido Bay about an hour southeast of Mobile, Alabama, and an hour west of Pensacola, Florida. Camp Dixie was founded in 1952 and has a long tradition of serving youth and congregations in Alabama, Florida, Mississippi, and Louisiana with a children's summer camp and retreat facilities.
Summer campers come to Camp Dixie to experience what it is like to live in a Christian community, surrounded by Christian young adults and ... their friends. Each summer, campers learn ways to live out their faith in their everyday lives - whether during Bible Study, or camp activities including archery, swimming, team challenge course, playing sand volleyball, canoeing, kayaking, crafts and more! The day is led by trained summer staff who focus on safety, excitement and the love of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Camp Dixie has camps for children entering grades 1-10 in the fall.
Camp Dixie is also a retreat center - built for church based youth retreats and faith building experiences with adults who dare to sleep in a bunk bed for the night.
